Ways to Give

Volunteering

Many activities just require a willing spirit, however, to work in the shelter, to answer the help-line, or to be a court watcher, you must go through a structured training, offered by Dove Center staff. Trainings are held periodically, and are usually announced in the local newspaper, through flyers, on the website, or social media.

Opportunities to be Involved

  • Helping at fundraisers, such as the Festival of Trees, held Thanksgiving week, and others as they arise throughout the year.
  • Court Watch: Monitor court cases and document observations, as directed in Court Watch training, and complete and return paperwork to the Dove Center office.
  • Shelter/Help-line coverage: Provide direct support services to clients, including crisis intervention. Provide supervision of the shelter facility during your shift.
  • Specialized opportunities: If you have a specialized skill that could benefit shelter clients, we would love for you to share it. Examples include: cooking skills, resume writing, job interview preparation, yoga or exercise, children’s activities, etc.
