Volunteer opportunities

Many activities just require a willing spirit. To work in the shelter, to answer the help-line, or to be a court watcher, you must go through a structured training, offered by Dove Center staff. Trainings are held periodically, and are usually announced in the local newspaper, through flyers, and on the website.

Opportunities are as follows:

  • Help at fundraisers, such as the Annual Walk & Rock, held in the summer; the Festival of Trees, held Thanksgiving week; The Re-Sale shop, held periodically throughout the year, and various other events, as they arise.
  • Court Watch: Monitor court cases and document results, as directed in Court Watch training, and complete and return paperwork to the Dove Center office.
  • Shelter/Help-line coverage: Provide direct support services to clients, including crisis intervention. Provide supervision of the shelter facility during your shift.
  • Specialized opportunities: If you have a specialized skill that could benefit shelter clients, we would love for you to share it. Examples include: cooking skills, resume writing, job interview preparation, yoga or exercise, children’s activities, etc.
